MEET THE SPEAKERS

DR. MAC-EFFORT KWAKU ADADEY (PhD, FCCA, FCA, FIoD, IIA, COIS, PMP, CICP, CIFP, ITIL, PGP-AIML-BA, CAM, CAIP, MBA, MSc) Dr. Mac-Effort Adadey is a Chartered Accountant and Financial Management Specialist with over 28 years’ public and private sector business experience. Dr. Adadey is currently the Assistant Controller and Accountant General and Director in charge of National Accounts of the Republic of Ghana. In this role he led the production of the first ever Whole-of-Government National Accounts of Ghana for five consecutive years (2020 to 2024). He is also leading implementation of Accruals Basis International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) for Ghana. He led the implementation of Ghana Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS) from March 2012 to May 2017, where the system was deployed to over 600 user sites across Ghana with over 3,000 trained users. He was the Head of Research and Development Directorate at the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) from June 2017 to April 2019. Dr Adadey was engaged as a consultant on several financial system development and capacity building projects in Ghana, Liberia, Gambia, Rwanda, Nigeria, Kenya, and the UK, among others. Dr. Adadey holds a PhD in ICT Management from CASS European Institute of Management Studies, and MSc in Management Information Systems from Coventry University - UK. He also holds an MBA in General Management from the University of Cape Coast-Ghana. He is a Certified Oracle Implementation Specialist, a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP), and a Certified Internal Control Professional (CICP). Other credentials include Certificate in Forensic and Investigative Psychology, certificate in Conflict Assessment & Mediation, Certificate in Artificial Intelligence in Peacebuilding, and Post Graduate Certificate in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning from McCombs Business School, University of Texas at Austin. He is currently pursuing two other certification programs- Executive Certificate in International Business Negotiations at the London School of Business and Administration; and certificate in Business, International Relations and Political Economy at The London School of Economics and Political Science Dr. Adadey belongs to six professional bodies - a Fellow of Institute of Chartered Accountants-Ghana (FCA); a fellow of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA)-UK; Fellow of Institute of Directors-Ghana (FIoD), a member of Institute of Internal Auditors Ghana & Global; member of the Project Management Institute-USA; and a member of Internal Control Institute-USA. Dr. Adadey is a farmer and a business owner. He is the current Vice-Dean of Public Financial Management Faculty of the Institute of Chartered Accountant-Ghana (ICAG). He is also a member of the Audit Committee of Ministry of Finance, Ghana. His interests are presentation, negotiation, brainstorming, conflict resolution, career coaching, and keeping fit. In his quiet moments he likes listening to soft music and watching wildlife documentaries.
